MultiChoice Nigeria to launch Pay-Per-View Subscription Model to DSTV/Gotv Subsribers

I’m not a TV person as I’m always on the system but here is
what you need to know about the recent development of DSTV/Gotv  about
to launch
Pay-Per-View subscription model.

Lots of DSTV/Gotv subscribers are complaining bitterly about
the price rip-off of this current subscription regime
and
consider
it as cheat and believes that they
should
only pay for what we consume.

However, Multichoice Nigeria will be launching a
pay-per-view (PPV) option in the country. Pay-Per-View (PPV), will allow
viewers pay an additional fee to watch a particular programme either on a cable
or a satellite TV,
The company says this would allow subscribers watch some
important programmes not available on their bouquet. Though, at an extra cost
to the willing consumers.
According to the HPR, “Pay TV operation is not like
the telecom version where you pay for the amount of airtime you want to use.
Pay-as-you-go, as believed by some customers, is not obtainable in the pay TV
business,”
“Paying for PPV in Europe and
the UK is equivalent to paying for two months subscription in Nigeria. We know
Africans love boxing that is why we are bringing the best thing that is
happening in the world to Africa.”
One subscriber lamented bitterly saying…“Having a pay-per-view could
be a good alternative, as to me the current subscription regime is a cheat on
me. Initially, I used to do the full bouquet like N13000 ($42.5) and then I
just thought I was wasting money and reduced it to around N3000 ($9.8). What I
really watch on the DStv is the E!,”
said Ms. Olamide, a DStv
subscriber.
This might be a good development but also remember that there
is no sufficient electricity to watch what you are subscribing for.

  1. Honestly I have suggested this thing several times on their page. What I really want is to be able to subscribe to any channel of my choice from all the DSTV channels. Then we can pay according to what we subscribed.

  2. Finally God has answered our prayers. Imagine a friend paid N6300 Compact bouquet but could not watch Uefa Champion League on Tuesday and Dstv gave him a useless match, Napoli VS Aghahowa's Shakter Doneski on Wednesday.

  3. DSTV can get away with anything in this country due to their monopoly hold in the pay tv sector as there is clearly no competition for them. Saying pay per view is not obtainable just reminds me of Telecos operators in the early days who said per Second billing is not possible until glo came and showed that they were lying.
