Here is my own advice, drain the
new battery to below 5% [probably 1-5%] and then keep it for full
charge[100%] for the first time, this way you will kind of calibrate the new
battery’s power and configure it’s capacity.

I charge it full first, drain it till like <20% and finally begin anyhow charging and discharging cycle. Hope I'm not too far from the recommended approach.
There are different ways to re-calibrate Android battery. For me, i delete my batterystats.bin file and immediately reboot my phone.

I'd recommend 97% max, 92% min, while phone's on but unperturbed by the owner. There's analysis that certify that the best, just that it's too long for me to start typing here.
No matter the percentage it is when I buy the phone, I don't make use of it at all until I charge it full to 100%

When I bought any new phone especially Android, I will make use of the camera to drain the battery to like 70% and the off it and charge to 100%.
