MTN Introduces New Grace/Data Rollover Period on its Data Bundle

You’ll recall that earlier this month, we reported that NCC directed all Telecom operators in the country to implement data rollover beginning from June 26th.

It appears this is gradually coming into existence. According to NCC twitter handle, the implementation has begun and all Telecom operators including Airtel, 9mobile, Glo and MTN will allow you to use your expired or unfinished data bundle in the following month.

Based on NCC’s directive, a new rule is now applicable to allow data rollover on un-used main data bundle when they renew their bundles after expiry or buy another bundle of the same category within the specified roll over period below,

data rollover

MTN, with the largest subscribers data base, has immediately implement how it data rollover will work.

Data Category Validity Roll Over Period
Daily bundles 1 Day 1Day
Weekly bundles 3 Days 3 Days
Monthly bundles 7 Days 7 Days

How Does it Work?

Daily Bundle: If you have subscribe for a daily plan on June 26, the expiry day is June 27 but you will still have another 24 hours to subscribe – June 28 – as Grace Period.

Weekly Bundle: For weekly bundle, you have extra 3 days to subscribe a new bundle before your data balance is wiped out.

Monthly Bundle: For monthly bundle, you have extra 7 days to subscribe a new bundle before your data balance is wiped out.

Note: You data balance is expected to still be working during this Grace Period.

We are expecting other Telecom operators to announce how theirs will work.

  1. Opportunity to be zapping people’s data now
    Nothing is good in this
NCC should try and make them give us cheap datas

  2. It’s almost the same thing. They shouldn’t be grace time. The data suppose to work whenever the subscriber purchased new data.

  3. It’s better than nothing. If only 9mobile will follow suit on this their 3 days data plan or make complete 72hour’s .
